Apple crumble

Soft baked apples beneath a crisp, buttery crumble.

  1. Heat oven to 190°C (170°C fan). Toss prepared apples with 2 tablespoons sugar and arrange in a 23cm round or 20cm square baking dish.
  2. Rub cold butter into flour and 110g sugar to make crumbs. Spread over apples, press lightly and sprinkle with oats and demerara.
  3. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and apples are tender. Rest for 10 minutes; serve with cream or custard.
